Magic of Lights Ottawa Gives Back to the CHEO Foundation

Ottawa’s biggest and brightest holiday tradition doubles contribution with a $50,000 donation to the CHEO Foundation

Ottawa, ON. June 6, 2021 - Karen Sparks of Wesley Clover Parks and Grant Reeves of FunGuys LLC joined today’s CHEO Telethon to present the CHEO Foundation with a $50,000 donation on behalf of Magic of Lights Ottawa!

Karen Sparks, Executive Director at Wesley Clover Parks, spoke to the motivation behind the drive-through event, “We teamed up with FunGuys LLC to bring Magic of Lights to Ottawa in 2016 with the goal of giving back to our community and are pleased to see the impact that we can have grow with the success of the event. CHEO has been an important fixture in our community for many years, and the COVID-19 pandemic has further highlighted the significance of the work that they do. Our team felt it was important to increase our donation, allocating a greater portion of the $100,000 we have committed to donating by 2022 to provide much needed funds to their team who has been working tirelessly to protect all of us.”

“This donation has been made possible thanks to tremendous support of our community who continue to make Magic of Lights part of their holiday traditions, and our incredible sponsors including MOVE 100, Royal LePage Team Realty, and eQ Homes in addition to funding support from the Government of Ontario’s Reconnect Festival and Event Program,” added FunGuys LLC CEO, Grant Reeves. Local real estate brokerage Royal LePage Team Realty shared the giving spirit, contributing bonus donations on “Top Up Tuesdays” during Magic of Lights.

Ottawa’s official Christmas station, MOVE 100, continues to play an important role in sharing this holiday tradition with Ottawa residents and visitors. “We are incredibly proud to continue to support this magical event on MOVE 100 and CTV, all while helping children in our community receive the care they need from CHEO,” said Richard Gray, Regional General Manager, Radio/TV, Eastern Region, Bell Media.

“We are grateful to partners like Wesley Clover Parks and FunGuys LLC for their dedication to the children and youth at CHEO,” said Kevin Keohane, President and CEO, CHEO Foundation. “So many children who rely on CHEO were able to enjoy this magical event that celebrates community spirit and holiday cheer. Money raised will put tools and equipment in the hands of medical experts, provide access to life-saving treatment and crucial support programs, and fuel the cutting-edge research that happens at CHEO every day. A sincere thank you to Wesley Clover Parks, FunGuys LLC and to all those who brightened our lives this season and will continue to shine their generosity on CHEO.”

The popular drive-through will continue to dazzle guests as it returns to Wesley Clover Parks in November, this time offering some special new features.
