3rd Kanata Scouts Bat Box Unveiling

On September 18th a group from 3rd Kanata Scouts hosted a Bat Box unveiling ceremony at the Wesley Clover Parks Campground as part of their eldest Beaver Scouts' (aged 7 to 8) project to earn their Northern Star Award. The Beaver Scouts worked the entire summer to build the bat box themselves, following the Canadian Wildlife Federation’s bat box outlines. By successfully completing this project this group of Beaver Scouts were awarded a certificate, badge, and graduated to Cubs!

Bats are vital to the health of our environment as they work each night eating insects, pollinating flowers, and spreading seeds that grow into new plants and trees. Bat houses such as this one will offer a space for roosting during the spring and having pups over the summer, giving pups a chance for survival. We would like to thank the 3rd Kanata Scouts for choosing Wesley Clover Parks as the home for their bat box!
