Magic of Lights Ottawa Announces Partnership with the CHEO Foundation

Continuing the tradition of giving back, Magic of Lights Ottawa kicks off their new partnership with the CHEO Foundation with a commitment to donating $100,000

Ottawa, ON. Nov. 1, 2019: The National Capital Region’s largest and most anticipated holiday light show, Magic of Lights Ottawa, is returning to Wesley Clover Parks from November 21st, 2019 through January 4th, 2020.

Magic of Lights is a dazzling “drive-through” experience that has quickly become a holiday tradition for Ottawa residents and popular attraction for visitors. Now in its fourth year, Magic of Lights offers guests the opportunity to enjoy festive and vibrant LED light displays that celebrate the joy of the holidays from the comfort of their own car. Over the past three seasons, Magic of Lights has had the pleasure of hosting hundreds of thousands of guests to The Parks to ignite the spirit of the holidays. This year, the Wesley Clover Parks Campground will once again open its doors to invite guests to tour along a route stretching more than two kilometers and featuring over a million gleaming lights. The magical route will include fan favorite displays including the Enchanting Tunnel of Lights, Snowflake Forest and Candy Cane Lane along with new displays such as Ornament Alley.

Giving back to the community is an integral part of Magic of Lights, and is at the core of Wesley Clover Parks’ guiding principles. This year, Magic of Lights welcomes the CHEO Foundation as a new charity partner and is proudly dedicating $100,000 in funds generated by the event to this amazing local organization. The CHEO Foundation is responsible for developing, accepting, distributing, and recognizing philanthropy in support of CHEO, the CHEO Research Institute and Roger Neilson House. Dedicated to the best life for every child and youth, CHEO is a global leader in pediatric health care and research. Today, representatives from Wesley Clover Parks and the CHEO Foundation gathered to launch this new partnership surrounded by some of the students at the CHEO School, an educational facility that provides an innovative educational/therapy program for kindergarten students with complex physical needs.

“We are thrilled to partner with the team at Wesley Clover Parks,” said Dan Champagne, VP, Development and Corporate Relations, CHEO Foundation. “This event will raise much-needed funds to ensure patients can live their very best lives. During this festive time of year it is especially heartwarming to see such a beautiful outpouring of support and generosity from our community. Children and youth would much rather be at home during the holidays but when that’s not possible, funds raised thanks to Magic of Lights will give the staff at CHEO the resources they need to make CHEO feel like home. We are grateful to partners like Wesley Clover Parks for their dedication to the children and youth at CHEO.”

Karen Sparks, Executive Director of Wesley Clover Parks, shares a passion for the community benefits of Magic of Lights, “Wesley Clover Parks is proud to be the home of Magic of Lights Ottawa and of the holiday tradition it has created in our city. Our natural and intimate tree-filled setting at the Wesley Clover Parks Campground offers a truly unique experience here in our Nation’s Capital. It has been such a pleasure to watch this event grow into the not-to-be-missed family holiday experience that it is today. Even better has been witnessing the good that is being done in our community with the funds raised! Our team has been inspired by the opportunity to support our local charity partners. It has been our pleasure to see Magic of Lights donated dollars in action with the great work these organizations do in our community. This tradition continues to expand with our newest partner, CHEO! There is so much more good to come!”

Helping to bring this holiday tradition to the National Capital Region is media partner Bell Media. Guests can add to their Magic of Lights experience by tuning their dials to MAJIC 100 and enjoying holiday classics throughout their visit. ““MAJIC 100 is delighted to celebrate the holiday season through the Magic of Lights. It is one of our favourite holiday traditions and we are pleased to see this event will also help CHEO in a substantial way” said Richard Gray, Regional Vice-President/General Manager, Radio/TV, Ontario and Atlantic Canada of Bell Media.

As in previous years, Magic of Lights will be located at the Wesley Clover Parks Campground (411 Corkstown Road, Ottawa ON). The show opens November 21st, 2019 and will run every evening, including holidays, from 5:00pm to 10:00pm through January 4th, 2020.
