Not familiar with show jumping? Here’s a quick guide to understanding the competition!
Riders must navigate a course of obstacles, aiming to clear each jump without knocking down rails or refusing. The goal is to complete the course with the least number of faults in the fastest time! Faults and elimination can occur in few ways:
A knock-down, lowering the height of a jump or failing to clear the white tape on a water jump, is penalized with 4 faults.
The first refusal to jump a fence is penalized with 4 faults.
A second refusal to results in elimination.
Exceeding the time allowed is penalized with 1 fault for every 1 second over the time allowed.
Falling off while on course results in elimination.
Going off course, jumping the fences out of the correct order, also results in elimination.
Don't miss the jump off! Those with no faults in the first round will move on to the jump-off where they will compete over a shortened course. The goal is to clear the course in the fastest time possible without penalties. It's an exciting, high-pressure moment where speed and precision are crucial to securing victory!

Magic of Lights
Celebrate 10 Sparkling Seasons of Magic at Wesley Clover Parks
November 21, 2025 - January 3, 2026 (open every night!)
The most wonderful time of the year will shine brighter than ever as Magic of Lights Ottawa returns to Wesley Clover Parks for its 10th spectacular season! Proudly supporting the CHEO Foundation.
Magic of Lights Ottawa features over two million twinkling lights along a two-kilometre route, illuminating the night with enchanting holiday scenes, festive music, and family fun. This year’s route will showcase Ontario’s longest light tunnel, a roaring Prehistoric Christmas display, and returning fan favourite scenes like Winter Wonderland, Holiday Barbie, 12 Days of Christmas, Toyland, Reindeer Road, and more.
Mark Motors Group Holiday “Pit Stop”
Back for a fourth year, the Mark Motors Group Holiday “Pit Stop” invites guests to park and explore a festive winter village inside the Magic of Lights route. Visitors can stroll through an illuminated forest trail, snap photos at twinkling displays, write a note to Santa at the MOVE 100 Letter Writing Station, and enjoy classic holiday treats from Amiwo’s Cafe and BeaverTails®.
2km holiday drive-through experience supporting the CHEO Foundation.
Since its debut in Ottawa, Magic of Lights has donated more than $300,000 to local charities and become a cherished seasonal tradition for families across the National Capital Region. This year, the event once again benefits the CHEO Foundation, helping to make a difference in the lives of children, youth, and families in our community.
Tune to MOVE 100
The Magic of Lights experience wouldn’t be complete without holiday classics to sing along to, Ottawa’s Christmas music station and founding event partner MOVE 100 will help visitors get into the festive spirit with tunes throughout the journey.
Building the Magic
New this year, Cooper Equipment Rentals joins as a sponsor, helping “build the magic” by providing the equipment that brings our dazzling displays to life.
Funding provided by the Government of Ontario.
