Riding Foundations: Introduction Series

A beginner-friendly introduction to the fundamentals of horsemanship and movement that builds confidence, coordination, and foundational skills for horseback riding.

Riding Foundations is a beginner-level program designed for participants with little to no prior horse experience, offered in age-specific series for youth (ages 7–12), teens (ages 13–17), and adults (18+). Utilizing Ontario Equestrian’s Rookie Rider framework, the program introduces the fundamentals of horsemanship through a safe, structured, and confidence-building approach.

Participants develop essential movement skills, balance, coordination, and body awareness through ground-based activities, simple gymnastics, and hands-on horse interactions. Through a combination of classroom learning, barn time, and arena activities, participants gain an understanding of horse care, safety around large animals, and the basics of equestrian sport, laying a strong foundation for future riding, recreation, or continued learning.
